About Systems and Software Consortium
The Systems and Software Consortium, Inc. (SSCI) is a not-for-profit organization of member companies, key government agencies, and university affiliates. SSCI supports industry and government to improve program performance through implementing enhancements to their software engineering and systems engineering processes, practices and capabilities. http://www.systemsandsoftware.org.
Client Requirement
SCCI’s Board of Directors decided the organization should more actively market its unique capabilities directly to federal government agencies. They needed to implement a tailored business development process that would communicate their unique role and value proposition, match key agencies and programs to SSCI’s capabilities, and develop pursuit strategies for key opportunities.
CMA Solution
In partnership with SSCI, CMA is helping SSCI to implement the expansion of its specialized offerings directly to government agencies. CMA recommended a roadmap with a structured process to begin the business development sales cycle. “Just as SSCI helps its members to implement best practices for software engineering, SSCI turned to CMA for best practices in business development”, said Joe Corini, President, CMA. www.cmai.com.
The first step was to communicate SSCI’s specialized capabilities and unique position as a not-for-profit resource available to federal executives to ensure success of their complex programs. As an objective, authoritative resource, SSCI is differentiated from other professional services organizations in that it combines its neutral perspective with extensive, front-line experience on large, complex programs to provide government agencies with key insights for program success
According to Jim Kane, SSCI CEO, “While we are in an early stages of the program, the support from the CMA team has helped us to implement a more disciplined and structured process. Our message is being well-received by government. We are confident that we will meet our near-term goals and be positioned for growth in future years”.
